REVIEW: Grandma Agafia Rejuvenating Facial Mask with Moose Milk

Like most of you, I enjoy a little ritual of a face mask. I would usually use a gentle face scrub beforehand. The masks I used in the past were almost always clay based. I have combination – oily skin, so that made sense. I know it would be great to follow with a moisturizing mask, but I never bothered with that, assuming that my other good skincare products will suffice. But to have a mask that combines best of both worlds seems amazing, and isn’t very common. But here you are.

Grandma Agafia is a Russian brand that offers a reaaaally wide range of products for face, body, and hair, and even toothpaste, all with lovely INCI that include powerful eastern organic botanicals. Their hair products are particularly famous in Russia and Eastern Europe (I come from Poland, and they are really raved about there), as are their face masks. Fortunately, they are now available in the UK, alongside other interesting brands, at The Natural Skincare Shop. Did I mention they are also veeery affordable? 🙂

Back to the mask – I didn’t expect too much, but was really surprised. It does contain kaolin as a second ingredient, so it certainly purifies, but thanks to all the other ingredients it doesn’t dry hard as other purifying masks, and doesn’t leave the skin screaming for moisturizer. Quite the opposite. For all the curious, here’s the INCI:

Aqua, Kaolin, Carbomer, Organic Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Organic Beeswax, Moose Milk, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Parfum, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Citric Acid.

As you can see, there are botanical extracts, beeswax, milk, shea butter, glycerin…. So it really feels great and leaves your face moisturized, as well as cleansed. It has a fluid consistency. I took the photo after having it on for around 10-15 min. As you can see, only where I put a thinner layer on my nose, forehead and cheekbones it dried a bit, but it was more that it actually sank in.

Here’s what the brand says about it: “Mask with nutrient moose milk in combination with Siberian herbs specially designed for skin rejuvenation. Lavishly moisturizes, stimulates cell renewal, improves skin elasticity and evens the complexion. Moose milk is 4 times more nutritious than cow’s milk, and has a powerful rejuvenating effect. Rhodiola Rosea is rich in organic acids and flavonoids, allowing the skin’s firmness and elasticity. Sakhalin mulberry contains carotene, B vitamins, which smooth and soothe the skin. Organic white beeswax protects the skin from dehydration.” I think I can agree with all that. It’s one of their best sellers and I can see why. I’m very happy I got to try it and encourage you too 🙂

The Mask costs 3 pounds for 100 ml. It was sent to me for consideration, but it doesn’t affect my opinion at all.
